KNOCK KNOCK!

“Who’s there?”
“It’s the police, open up!”

He was naked; He rushed into his underwear and was on his way to the door when it burst open.

“Fleeing the scene?”
The man that walked through the broken door said as he flashed his detective badge.

Eight other police officers and some forensic experts walked in too.

“Do you know this woman?”
The Detective showed him a picture.

“Ella…”

“Arrest him, search the house, and look for anything that could serve as evidence, you, go and interrogate the neighbours, find out anything.”

Everything was happening so fast and he was completely lost in the heat.

“I found a sachet sir, it’s poisonous.”

“Good,” The detective was looking at him now, “young man your time is up.”

FIVE HOURS EARLIER

“So you won’t even give me a kiss before you go, Ella”. Not even a peck?

“No, Jimmy, She hissed, “go and meet your wife”.

“Stop behaving like a child”. Because I got married doesn’t mean that we can’t continue seeing each other, besides my wife is out of town for the weekend”.

“Leave me.”

“…and this Mini skirt you wore”, he said, slightly tugging at her skirt, “definitely brings back old memories”.

“Nope, we can’t!” She was almost screaming.

“Why are you rude today? You practically begged to come see me, remember?
Now you have been screaming all day, I bet my neighbours will be startled.”

BEEP BEEP
His phone chimed, it was a notification.

“Your Uber is here, but Ella before you go, please; just one kiss.”

“No.” She made for the door. “Aren’t you going to see me off?”

He followed her out to the parking lot.

“Goodbye for Good Jimmy”, She whispered. “And good-luck proving your innocence.”

Then she violently yanked at his shirt screaming and wearing whatever words came to mind.

“Ella, My God you’re crazy!” he said, trying to release himself from her grip, “…and my innocence? What does that even mean?”

He was confused.

She got into the cab, feigning a tear enough so that the driver would notice and then told the driver to kickoff the trip.

The cab slowly backed off… she had a smirk on her face.

“I win,” she muttered to herself; “I WIN”

15 MINUTES LATER

Ella would be found lying unconscious inside the cab. She will be taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

CAUSE OF DEATH: RAT POISONING.

The Uber driver would replay the scenario to the police of what happened when he picked her up.

He would go on to give details and address of the person
that booked the ride -JIMMY.

Her phone would show a text she had sent from Jimmy’s phone when pretended to just ‘look at some pictures’ but had texted her own phone from his mobile:

ELLA IF YOU DON’T SLEEP WITH ME I WILL KILL YOU.

A thorough search at Jimmy’s house would find
traces of poison on his couch, on the tip of the
wine glass she used and on the left over rice
Jimmy offered her.

A half-used rat poison satchel would be found,
slightly visibly tucked away under his fridge.

His neighbours would affirm to the fact
that they heard scuffles and momentarily screams
emanating from his house.

He would be finished beyond saving.

BURIED FOR GOOD.

After eight abortions and a lost womb,
Jimmy had decided to dump her and marry someone younger,
she had been in pain and had no reason to live.

He wasted her life, and so she must waste his life too.
